Regressar à escola é bué da fixe, man!

Combate ao abandono escolar segundo o governo Labour inglês (via Telegraph, destaques meus):

"This week, 200,000 sixth-formers will receive £100 for returning to school after the holidays. The payment is part of the education maintenance allowance, designed to prevent 16-year-olds dropping out of school.
As skills minister Ivan Lewis notes: "We have one of the worst post-16 drop-out rates in the world." The scheme addresses a serious problem; the Government is failing to address that problem in a serious way.
Anecdotal evidence from teachers suggests that pupils are turning up to collect the money, rather than from any desire to learn. Children should be taught to appreciate education for education's sake before they turn 16, rather than being bribed to keep the Government's education statistics buoyant.
And that's not taking into account the waste of public funds. How much of the £20 million of taxpayers' money will go on Proust and Pythagoras; how much on six-packs of Stella?"
