A Vacation

Agora que as férias estão à porta, lembro Wyatt. Por causa deste disco de impressões, em que Robert wyatt parece querer resgatar o tempo da infância e das férias.
A short break é a invocação desse tempo distante, talvez perdido em nós. Foi algures nos cinquenta, num Portugal passado, que Wyaat, ainda criança, descobriu outro modos de vida. A estranheza que não mais deixou de impregnar a música daquele que foi um dos nomes maiores da “cena Cantuária”.

Oh...yes...in other words take five, a space made vacant between daily tasks, literally, a vacation.

Some forty years ago, I was taken on holiday, to another Atlantic coast, to Portugal and discovered that there are different ways of behaving.

A few disorientating images remain, a few ghosts: the boy in the water, that was me, in the bowler hat, paddling on the shore, circulated on my earlier Rough Trade records, could that have been another me?
